Britons tend to get slightly irritated when someone refers to their favorite sport as "soccer" instead of "football". But the word "soccer" has British roots: it was coined in the 1880s at Oxford University, a shortening of "assoccer" which in turn was a colloquial term for "association football". Soccer's coming home!
With a barrage of national and international championships, football is a topic that is nigh impossible to ignore, so we had our soccer-crazed colleagues come up with a quiz that would challenge even the best-versed football afficionado.
